Scion Art Advisory is an independent practice offering provenance research, authentication support, valuation, and collection advisory services to private collectors, estates, and institutions. We hold no inventory of our own and take no commission tied to sale price, transaction volume, or introduction fees — our advice is structured to be free of the incentives that shape much of the trade.

Our approach begins with provenance. Before a question of attribution or value can be answered responsibly, we establish what is actually known about a work's history: who owned it, when, and on what documentary basis. Gaps are named as gaps, not smoothed over. Where the evidentiary record is thin, our reports say so plainly, and any conclusion is qualified accordingly.

From that foundation we bring in the relevant specialist disciplines — technical examination, comparative connoisseurship, archival research, market analysis — as the question requires, rather than applying a single template to every work. A due diligence assignment on a recently surfaced painting looks different from an estate valuation of a collection assembled over decades, and we scope each engagement to match.

Engagements typically begin with a defined brief: the work or collection in question, the decision it needs to inform, and the standard of evidence required. From there we agree a scope and timeline before research begins, and deliver findings in a written report suitable for insurers, counsel, tax authorities, or a collector's own records. We work by appointment, and most engagements begin with a confidential initial consultation.
